Until the 2012 Student Radio Awards!

Durham University
Purple Radio is an award-winning student radio station that broadcasts 24 hours a day during term time at Durham University in the North East of England....
Surge, from Southampton University, traditionally only has a 2 to 3 week FM licence each year, which gives the station a great chance to develop their audience, reach more students and generally show off what makes student radio awesome! This year, Surge is attempting to bring the entire Southampton University community together for 4 weeks by being on 87.7 FM throughout February.
This RSL (Restricted Radio Licence) comes in the busiest time of the Southampton Uni calendar with events including Varsity and the Union Elections taking place over the 4 weeks. Surge will also be attempting to broadcast an entire evening live with student and professional DJs at a Southampton club. The shows will be celebrating Valentine's day and 'National Surge Day'; a homage to Surge's 35th birthday.
Funding to extend Surge's licence this year has been mainly gathered from working with Southampton University Students' Union to acquire advertising on their website, as well as extra funds becoming available to the station by dropping its AM broadcasts early last year.
The FM period also gives a great opportunity to Southampton students as over 100 of Surge's DJs now have special 2-hour slots for the entire FM period, to showcase their skills.
