General Requirements:

Dates

  • The entry deadline is 7th February 2025 at 8pm 
  • Please note the entry deadline, this date is final and there will be no extensions provided. The system will automatically prevent entry submission after the deadline.
  • You may edit your entry after submitting, up until the entry deadline.
  • The nominees will be announced via the Student Radio Association social channels following the entries closing, with the winners announced at the Student Radio Conference 2025.

Eligibility

To enter the Amplify Awards you must meet the following criteria:

  • Stations must be members of the Student Radio Association
  • Individual nominees must be students currently studying at – or have graduated within the last thirteen months from – a member station.
  • Individuals may not nominate themselves for individual awards.

Entering the Awards

  • Nominations should all be entered via this official entry system, with the text added to the relevant sections and any photos added as separate attachments.
  • Please ensure you clearly state the person’s name, station they are from and their Twitter/X and Instagram @ in your nomination.
  • These should be completed and submitted by the closing date shown above.
  • People are eligible to enter more than one category, as long as the work submitted meets the criteria. You cannot submit the same entry for different awards. However, you can use elements in multiple entries provided it meets the requirements for that category.

The Amplify Awards are judged according to the core values of student radio, which the SRA committee has judged to be:

Categories:

Best Student Media Collaboration

This award will recognise a collaboration between two or more student radio stations, or with other student groups, working together on a particular project

This is for the station which has committed the most to the regional student station community in the UK.

Best Outreach Project

This is for a station which has created the best project to reach out to those around them. This could be a community project, locally or within the university, or a station which has raised awareness for a particular cause.

Best Fundraising Initiative

This award will recognise a station which has demonstrated a creative and effective approach to raising money. This could be on or off air, and includes charitable causes and raising funds for running costs.

Best Promotional Initiative

This award looks at the most creative and effective approaches to gaining new audiences. It celebrates how stations spread the word of student radio and get people listening.

Best Station Culture

This award celebrates friendly, welcoming, diverse and inclusive stations, and those filled with a positive attitude. It will recognise the stations that give people the chance to grow and foster a desire to be a part of it.

Best Training Initiative

This award will go to a station that offers its members an outstanding training scheme or programme. This could consist of regular masterclasses with industry, or perhaps a series of sessions for members to learn more skills.

Hero of the Moment

This award is for a person who has been outstanding when it mattered, at a particular event or specific moment during the year.

This is for somebody who has been able to achieve great things, no matter what stood in their way. They are an invaluable go-to person, and are a fantastic champion for student radio.

This award is for a magical moment that really stands out, on or off air. The category highlights moments that make student radio so special.

Team of the Year

This award recognises the outstanding efforts of a particular area of a radio station. This will  be a particular team that has made real progress and achieved something special over the last 12 months.

Most Improved Station

This is the station that has made the biggest improvement over the last year. The team has beaten the odds, completely reorganised themselves, or made a leap in an aspect of the station’s programming. Throughout this, all of their members have had a lot of fun.

Most Committed Committee Member

This award will go to an individual who goes above and beyond in the running of a student radio station. They support other members of the committee and station, and carry out their responsibilities to the best of their ability.

Most Supportive University or Students’ Union

This award recognises a university or students’ union team which goes above and beyond to support their student radio station, removing obstacles and creating opportunities which benefit members.

This award will go to an individual, team or station who has responded to and overcome a challenge beyond their control.

The Student Radio Amplify Award

This award is for an individual who is an exemplary member of a student radio station. They embrace the core values of student radio to an outstanding level. This award cannot be entered for, as judges for other categories will nominate any potential recipients for the Amplify Award.
